What is the meaning of mosaic in art?

A mosaic, traditionally, is a picture made up of small parts which are traditionally tiny tiles made out of terracotta, pieces of glass, ceramics or marble and usually inlayed into floors and walls.

Over the years at Kreative Kids we have made many mosaics out of many different materials over the years as our philosophy is that any art form can be made out of whatever materials you have on hand.

Check out these posts showing all how you can create mosaics out of everyday household or crafting supplies

Foam or paper shapes are the best for a quick and easy mosaic. You can use a template or just create a pattern all your own, that’s up to you but be sure to fill up your whole area with as much colour as possible.
